Build & Launch Fun!
Hey, science explorers! Ready to launch into an awesome adventure? Let’s build mini catapults and discover the secrets of force, motion, and energy transfer. It’s science meets fun!
What You’ll Need
- Popsicle sticks (10-12)
- Rubber bands (4-6)
- Plastic spoon or small cup
- Tape or glue
- Small objects to launch (marshmallows, pom-poms, or paper balls)
How to Build It
- Stack 8-10 popsicle sticks and secure both ends with rubber bands.
- Take 2 more sticks, attach the spoon to one end with tape, and connect them with a rubber band in a V-shape.
- Slide the stack between the V-shape and secure with more rubber bands.
- Pull back the spoon, load your ammo, and let it fly!
Science in Action
When you pull back the spoon, you store energy. Releasing it transfers that energy into motion, launching your object with force. How far can you make it go? Experiment and find out!
